About Us
The Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch has been rendering humanitarian services to the people of Odisha since 1936. The IRCS was established in 1920 through an Act of the Parliament, the bill passed on 17th March, 1920 and became Act XV of 1920 with the consent of the Governor General on 20th March, 1920 and established on 1st April, 1936. All its humanitarian activities are based on the four core areas i.e Disaster Response, Disaster Preparedness, Health & Care in the community and Promotion of Humanitarian Values & Fundamental Principles. Binding by seven Fundamental Principles i.e. Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch has promoted mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all people. It has 30 District Branches, 1 City Branch, 1 Regional Branch and 3 Block Branches, besides Junior Red Cross and Youth Red Cross units in most of the schools and colleges of Odisha.
Our Activities
I am in receipt of your DO letter No. 46/RC-140/2020 dated 30.07.2020. After
going through the contents of the letter, I am highly impresses with the
initiatives that you have taken particularly in transforming the office to a
paperless – online mode. This will be very helpful to bring in efficiency
and transparency and is the need of hour, to use technology in times of
Covid restrictions. You also deserve to be complimented for registration
with KVIC, The NHQ will provide whatever support is required.
The Indian Red Cross Society,Odisha State Branch is organizing professional
First Aid training for Red Cross Volunteers,Industrial personnel, Drivers,
Conductors, Corporate Sectors, Institutional members, students and other
stakeholders. We are providing training on Physical/Mental health First Aid
and Psychological First Aid to preserve life. The First Aid train ing
focuses on preservation and recovery of individuals in a state of social,
physical and mental well being. Today, First Aid is one of the most common
activities of IRCS. It helps to build up the capacity of the volunteers and
to respond to humanitarian needs both in emergencies and in day to day
support to people in need.
Hygiene kit, Mask and soap are distributed to the needy villagers of Brahmapada Village , Brahmagiri , Puri District. An awareness programme on WASH is also organised to fight against COVID -19 at the village.
